Dogs must be rich, too. And they have more than one outdoor bathroom. Bush, tree, hydrant, lawn, sidewalk….. And a personal valet to clean up after them.
My mum grew up in Baltimore in the 20s, and they had an outhouse. In fact, I can remember visiting some of her cousins when I was a kid, and a bit bewildered by the fact that their bathroom had a tub and a washbowl, but no toilet. A true “bathroom”.
Outhouses still exist for some homes in Alaska. The ones way off the grid. Where the only electricity you get comes from systems that you install. Solar is only 1 way. The others would be a small windmill or, damming a small stream if you have one that is several feet above your house. Then you put in some PVC pipes and run the water thru a generator inside a 55 gal oil drum. As long as you have the necessary hight and running stream, you can put in a water power electrical generating system(Saw them build such a system on Build Alaska a few years ago.)

A sure cure for constipation, if you were in the outhouse.

They still exist in parks. They’re concrete blocks and most have flushable commodes, but they’re still outhouses!
