Just that WCAU (NBC10) is probably #4 in ratings in Philadelphia. Even WTXF (Fox29) has better ratings! They still can’t overcome the WPVI (6abc) juggernaut, even with Jim Gardner retiring at the end of 2022 after 46 years at the anchor desk. #2 is held by KYW-3 (CBS), anchored by Denzel Washington’s 2nd cousin, Ukee Washington.

“Just the whole ‘getting thrown out of my office’ thing. That’s pretty much it.”

Why am I getting a sense of foreboding in that last question by the reporter?

That’s what the news people think their job is these days. And if there’s no dirt they’ll create some. A positive story doesn’t seem to be sufficient for this guy

I went to school with Ukee Washington! One of the most embarrassing moments I have ever witnessed happened at a dinner honoring him. Some big wig from of the University of Richmond in Virginia said “Ukee just got a TV job with (I forget which station) because they wanted a color commentator” I wanted to crawl under my chair. Ukee was the picture of grace and decorum. I was very proud of him.

That way things are in this brave new world, that is not an unreasonable question.
