so it IS a sleeveless hoodie…though I notice he doesn’t have that “bracelet” anymore, perhaps a last minute correction to the line art?

So the team hires a big guy who’s never played football before and has no agility. Then they hire another guy who’s so huge that he’s never played football and he is supposed to coach the other guy. I’m guessing that this team is not going to have much success. Reminds me of the stupidity of the Cincinnati Bengals ownership.

Coach kicked a guy off our Division III football team. He was 22 as a freshman (military vet) and a body builder. At the end of the season the freshman squad was down to 26 players – it would have been at least 32 but this guy had personally injured 6 in practice. He was a total jerk as well. I was on the defensive line and grunting with every effort and he started mocking me, so on a screen play where he was playing fullback I ran over to make the tackle and he hits me. Without grunting it felt like my glottis was going through the roof of my mouth. I woke up in the training room. He might of been a nice weapon to have on the playing field but on the practice field he was a menace. And no one liked him.

BTW, Bob Lanier’s high school coach wouldn’t let Bob play or practice, only shoot around with the team. He was worried Bob would either hurt himself or another player with his size. Also, he couldn’t find shoes to fit. In college, they had to be specially made. He never played till his freshman year in college (in those days, freshmen were barred from varsity teams, so they had their own teams.) HOFer Calvin Murphy was in the same class and played for Niagara University and Bob with St. Bonaventure. Along with Canisius they formed the Little Three pseudoconference. They played a lot of games in Buffalo’s Memorial Auditorium. The freshman squads would play first, followed by the varsities. It was not uncommon for the crowd to be much bigger for the freshman team game than the varsity game. I got to watch a lot of them. Lanier led little Bonaventure to the Final Four but didn’t get to play in it because Chris Ford tripped driving the lane and fell into his knee. Because knee surgery was rather crude in those days, nobody in the NBA got to see Lanier at his best.
