Carol Lay is one of the best illustrators in comics, right up there with Bill Griffith.

Regret, remorse and reflection. We all have them eventually in relationships one way or another.

Old age is the time of regret recrimination, and repentance.

Always, we don’t regret the things we did as much as the things we neglected to do.

The best romances are when you fill in the blanks, not when somebody else writes half the story.

That happened with me in San Diego, 1977. I did get her name—Cathy—a magic dream-girl flower child. I wish we had at least kept in touch, but, alas, it sailed away. But it wouldn’t have worked, as I was 32, and she was 17. (Had I waited 5 months, she’d be legal.)

Glasses representing some indication of smartness is a fallacy.

I was so very fortunate to have met my soulmate in college. 45 years later, we’re still very much in love.

Oh well, likely he is/was gay.

If he does (read your strip) and he does (remember that chance encounter years ago) and he does (also think there was a spark there) and he’s not (married with children) - who knows???

Sometimes still wonder about the lady who was my scuba buddy on a Cayman Islands trip over 20 years ago.
