Brad: "...So Eiffel let me run Weenieworld for an hour. Luckily, all went well" TJ: "Why'd she pick you?" Brad: "I dunno, TJ. She picks on me a lot" TJ: "She sounds manipulative" Brad: "You'd know. But don't worry. I can handle her" TJ: "Yeah. Every man's famous last words"

Come on TJ, burn WW down so Brad can get away from her and back to the FD like was mentioned in yesterday’s comments.

Listen to TJ, Brad. TJ WOULD know! …. I wonder what TJ’s cooking up. A stew of some sort? I see a carrot and an onion waiting to be chopped up, and TJ’s currently slicing what I first assumed was a green pepper but, if you zoom in resembles a zucchini. I’m no culinary expert, so you don’t have to take my word for it. … Pretty certain that TJ’s also cooking up some Gasp! logical advice to give his buddy, rather than a crazy scheme. But, you know if that happens Brad will still deliberate for about three or four comic strips with TJ saying things along the lines of: “C’mon, man, have I EVER offered you bad advice before?”
Mighty_Mouse about 13 years ago
Well, at least Brad recognized that TJ is manipulative. But he then fails on every other point of understanding his situation. Lucky TJ is his wingman. This arc is really clever work by Greg Evans. Can someone ask the colorist why Brad is pouring motor oil into his cup?

I like that we’re starting to see more of TJ. Also, he, like Crystal, is showing more depth and maturity while leaving their signature personalities.

TJ is offering some unusually good advice here. Brad should not be so smug about his imagined ability to handle a seasoned, unscrupulous, female adversary. The boy is out of his league and needs all the help he can get, be it from TJ, Toni, Bernice, or anyone else!

T.J. a 99er? Eiffel last word’s to Brad. Put out or get out?
ZacBSM about 13 years ago
Famous last words, Brad. TJ knows you are being handled because he handles you all the time. Ann and TJ are two peas in a pod but Ann is the bad and TJ is the good (although not always….)

T.J. and Ann Will be dateing before you know it

Actually, what Brad described doesn’t sound manipulative. What Ann is doing IS manipulative, but since Brad doesn’t see it that way, he would have a hard time making it sound that way. And Brad thinks he can handle it? When was the last time he had to deal with a manipulative female that was not his mother? Yes – All mothers are manipulators. It’s their job.
Chuck373 about 13 years ago
Now that i think about it, wouldn’t manipulative behavior be good for all bosses? A boss needs to be manipulative and coercive. How else would you get your employees to do anything. You certainly couldn’t get them to attempt anything new without these tactics.
Chuck373 about 13 years ago
Yes – Brad can handle Ann. He doesn’t even see what’s happening. Her seduction appears to be completely lost on him. He’s like a little boy who has to take out the trash before he has the rest of the day to play, but all he can see is taking out the trash.

Here’s my prediction: Turns out TJ is actually the majority stockholder or even outright owner of WeenieWorld. He comes in and Eiffel ends up asking him if he thinks he owns the place. TJ then turns from ever-smiling happy boy to tough CEO all in one frame. Eiffel is fired, Brad made VP in charge of safety and fiire prevention and TJ then goes into the cooking are and whips up a new gormet WeenieWorld creation.

I thought men’s famous last words were ‘I know what I am doing.’?

When she gets back, money will be missing and Brad gets the blame…

..the funny thing is..I believe that Brad can handle her…

Brad did really well not being manipulated by TJ. It’s not like TJ made himself Brad’s roommate against Brad’s will, is still living there, and generally is a big instigator. Hee, hee.
A.Ficionada about 13 years ago
Yeah, Brad can handle manipulative people really well. It’s not like TJ moved in w/o Brad’s permission, or instigated a bunch of other stuff and Brad could not find a way out, ha.

It’s kind of sad that when there’s a woman in charge, she has to be depicted as a manipulative b*tch.
yuggib about 13 years ago
Brad needs to WAKE up! Ann is a “user” trying to get Brad’s undivided attention/homage. I.e. she want’s Brad to drop everything, and then be everything FOR (not “to”) her. When is Toni going to take this woman on, and kick her butt? When is T.J. going to subtly take this woman on, and kick her butt? When is the city going to come up with the finances to rehire (recall?) Brad, so he can kick butt, and become an “outer” hero (rather than the “inner” hero we all know he is) and (gasp) marry Toni? When is Luann going to be really involved in this strip?
Enquiring minds want to know!
yuggib about 13 years ago
I do not think Ann wants to get Brad into the sack, more like she wants to manipulate him into thinking he’s going to get her into the sack so she can dump him, and dump on him, causing trouble between Brad and Toni, Brad and T.J., Brad and … everybody.

T.J. is so adorable!<3

TJ is like the Fool in King Lear — he sees clearly what’s going on, and because he’s only a Fool, he gets away with saying so to the oblivious ones around him.

Listen to TJ, Brad! He understands women! He reads Non Sequitur!

perv. Not once did that cross my mind. I’m too young and unmarried.

What gets me is no matter how blatantly manipulative Ann is, (and how noodle-spined Brad is in her presence) he still clings to the “I can handle her” mentality.…Brad, as one guy to another, that kind of thinking is what makes it easy for women Ann to manipulate us. Stop letting your testosterone do the talking.
