mom: i've kept all the cards our kids have made for us over the years. here's my mother's day collection...
mom: and here's your father's day line.
dad: i made my dad the same card...
Congrats to you dads out there.Tieing [sic] one on with the old cardHey, imagine this for Luann’s skill set: an online subscription educational series for young children with not a lot of workers so the same people do sets, performing (including songs and comedy), and writing.
Since I live at a distance and only younger sis is near, she will be the one who spends part of Father’s Day at our step Dad’s grave. And I will do what I do on both fathers and mothers day, which is donate to charities doing research into the cure for the diseases that took dad, step dad and mom from us.
Same here, NG. Dad gave my mother so much grief over my arrival (as if he’d had nothing to do with it, right?) that she divorced him before I was one year old..Never saw him after that. Don’t remember what he looked like..He even stopped sending child support after a while, pretty much daring my mother to do something about it..I found out he died about four years ago after a debilitating illness which plagued him for over a decade. He was in hospice when he passed away and had been functionally blind for most of his last ten years of life..Funny, but I have trouble feeling any compassion toward his final years.
For you:Because it is Father’s Day, this strip is to a large extent about a daughter, and risk repeatedly has been a topic, i thought people might enjoy today’s offering at this site:http://academyofamericanpoets.cmail2.com/t/ViewEmail/y/6A1564C800B491D8/BA99E4D658246739981D23A7722F2DCD
Once, years ago, in a moment of weakness, I took a homeless teenage kid with no family into my house. I told him he was welcome to stay as long as he went to school and stayed out of trouble. (He did.) Several months passed. On a certain Sunday in June, he handed me a small package without a word, and went away. There was a very nice necktie (from a charity shop) inside. I shut myself in my bedroom and cried for a half-hour.. Today he is 30 years old and has two college degrees. I expect i will get another necktie from the greatest son anyone ever had by accident.
I was able to do my work across from the greeting card display. A crowd packed the location on the day before Mother’s Day, but only one or two shoppers at a time for Fathers Day.
Perhaps, it’s just good enough to know that our simple pleasures never create gift selection anxiety. (A tin of cashews for me will always do fine.)
Dads— Some of us knew them, some of us were raised by one, for some he was just a sperm donor. And yet…- We all had men who taught us, guided us, disciplined us, supported us (teachers, coaches, Sunday School principals, etc.)- For we believers, we all have a spiritual Father.*So Happy Father’s Day to One and to All! Men are great!
Happy father’s day Greg. And to you as well, Frank!your children are useful citizens today, so your job is done. And thank you for keeping us entertained.
Wow. There is a search going on locally. Low flying helicopters with search lights going over repeatedly for the last 20 minutes or so. Police saying to stay inside with doors locked.
Thanks, Puzz. We are fine. I no longer hear helicopters locally, but when i crack the window i can hear them a bit in the distance. There is nothing about it on the news.
I know a family where the child made TWO cards like that in school, for BOTH her dads! :) BTW, when I worked security, we had to wear clip-on ties. If we had to take someone down, it came off rather than him something to strangle us with. :)

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads who are involved in their children’s lives, not just in their conceptions.

I HATE ties. On the rare occasions that I need to wear a tie I wear a clip on tie. I don’t want a noose around my neck.

I got a baritone Jazzmaster and a small amp. Had to pick them out myself, however.

My father died in 1948. It’s still painful to think what might have been.

This is funny considering that many men don’t wear ties that often and don’t really enjoy wearing them anyway.
