Moderately Confused by Jeff Stahler for March 31, 2017

yesterday as I came home, I noticed how many people are just looking into their smartphones.

What did people do with their heads before there were smartphones?

Was in stop and go rush hour traffic one morning this week. 20-something kid was messing with his phone when he rear ended my vehicle. Since he had almost hit me once, you would have thought he’d put the blasted thing away and paid attention. Lots of damage—never once apologized.

It’s funny because it’s true!

Are they that interested in only themselves and whatever sensationalist events are broadcast every minute? Or do they use that device to avoid having to ever say ‘Excuse me,’ or ‘Sorry, I didn’t hear you,’ or ‘How can I help you?’ – the last one requiring commitment to someone or something outside oneself?

He looks like a character from an earlier time, who would shun such things as ‘establishment’ and ‘uncool’

He is asking her to text him that statement.

Before Smart Phones, smart people read books. And they increased their intelligence. People should still read books.
