“My kid beat up your honer student.” I had that bumper sticker and someone tore it off and stuck it under my wiper blades. I laugh to this day that someone had that much rage about violence. Kinda an oxymoron
When I was in school, many many years ago, we learned that the correct English would be; “an honor student”. The rule from the wonderful “Basic English Revisited, A Student Handbook” is; “A is used before words that have a consonant sound, AN is used before words that begin with a vowel sound.”
Lately, I see and hear the usage as in the cartoon, and I wonder if the rules have changed or they’re just not being taught. Anyhow, just musing…
