I do have to give a shout out to YouTube videos. Most of them can make even us 10-thumbed individuals competent at assembling things.
Then there are those that are useless. My cousin and I watched several as we assembled a piece of farm machinery. We were able to piece together what we needed to do by watching three of them.
The fourth regurgitated the instructions and showed Parts A and B laying next to each other. In the next scene Parts A and B were assembled. There was nothing in between to show how it was done. The author of that video did not show the tools needed to assemble the device, so we didn’t know if he had a magic wand or not.
P. S. It took 4 of us: one with a PhD and the other three with Master’s Degrees (and mine in engineering) 4 hours to assemble it. It probably would have taken a teenage kid raised on a farm about 15 minutes.
It’s called “Maintenance Language” It’s the ancient and arcane language used by mechanics for millennia, used for loosening and fitting parts that will not cooperate. Some spells are just a bit more profane than others.

They’re easy! Even a child could do it (so it says here in the otherwise unintelligible instructions).

Make sure you have a set of metric tools before starting. I also found that Chinese made 1/4" bolts require 10mm wrenches and sockets.

Let’s off a lot of pressure, though.

It might be best for you to have your kids assemble your next Ikea purchase. Plus, they’d get another unboxing video out of it.
