Root, root, root for the home team. (Don’t forget the peanuts and CrackerJacks).

Doesn’t always work that way. My brother raised his kids in East Tennessee where everyone wears orange, but because he was a Bama fan, they were too.

Unless you are a New Yorker: there is a big difference between Yankee and Mets fans.

I was in the military and moved around a lot. In pre-cable days (yes, there was a time when TV signals came over the air and not through a wire in the wall and telephone signals came trough a wire in the wall and not over the air), the only team you got to watch was what the local station carried. In some places we had as many as THREE cannels so you sometime got the local college’s basketball game instead of baseball or football.

It’s amazing how people have a need to associate with successful groups even though they didn’t contribute directly to its success.

Does not explain why I like an East coast sports team. Maybe going to a game many years ago and catching a puck Bobby Orr shot into the stands? Nope. Must be some other reason.

Then there are weirdos like me. I’ve been a Dodger fan as long as I can remember (going back to the early-to-mid 80’s), but I’ve never even been to California. In fact, none of my close relatives is from California, or is even a baseball fan. No idea what happened with me.

I only watch Motorsports, NASCAR, IMSA, NHRA, IHRA, open wheel, motorcycles especially with sidecars on the road course or even dirt. An air show gets me excited too, the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds Super Delta is awesome to see.

Thirty-five years since I lived in New York, and even more years than that since I took any serious interest in baseball. But I got just a little excited this year when the Mets had a shot at going to the World Series.

I live in North Carolina. It’s a good thing I don’t have a strong attachment to the local team.

The meteor that created the large crater west of Winslow AZ landed right next to a large visitor center. How providential.

As someone who has literally lived more than 30 different places, half of them as an adult, I never did get the whole “my geography Number One” thing. :)

It’s especially puzzling in big leagues where the players are basically mercenaries and may not even be from the United States, much less “hometown boys”.

I’m not, because my “home” team bailed on my home town.
