Visited California and had dinner at a very fine restaurant. The valet guys looked like Cheech and Chong. Nevertheless they were very proficient and even cracked a joke about my rental car. Hertz, for free, upgraded me to a Jaguar sedan. Not sure I got the joke.
It’s said that you shouldn’t have you home address marked as ‘Home’ on your car GPS. If a bogus valet should take your keys, you’ve not only lost your car, but the first thing they’ll do is drive to your home and rob that as well (assuming you have your home keys on the same keychain). They’ll know that you’ll be unaware for the time it takes you to finish your meal.

This scam actually happened once (or more; I’m not sure).

The cops will let you know when your car is filmed in a robbery and police chase. Your insurance company will let you know when they jack your rates.
