@NabuquduriuzhurNo matter how hard they try not to be, scientists are humans, too; i.e., they try to divorce themselves from their personal feelings and concentrate on facts. Dedicated scientists will behave with the courage and honesty necessary to admit they made mistakes when they become of aware of them.

@Nabuquduriuzhur,There were only a few scientists who accepted Piltdown – mostly English, and then only for a short period of time.

French biologists, who had Cro Magnon said no; German scientists, who had neandertal fossils, said no; most US scientists also said no.

Certain tests hadn’t been invented until the 1950s; when they were applied to the Piltdown assemblage, everyone said no.

I no longer worry much about who or what is to blame. I do believe one time in the future, this third rock from the sun is going to burp, spew out a lot of gas, and start all over again. Not to rain on anyone’s parade; but, I don’t think there is a whole lot us humans will be able to do to stop or even prevent it.

You see the inconsistency there, of course.Given the amount of water present on the Earth, it only suffers atmospheric warming where there is no water to convert thermal energy to kinetic energy. This can only happen in two ways. One, when the majority of the water is already stored as kinetic potential as ice, leaving the rest of the world dry and hot. Or two, when the majority of the water is held in deep and cold seas with its kinetic potential exhausted and its thermal potential very low, leaving the rest of the world dry and hot due to the amount of energy required to move moisture from the seas to the land. Two usually follows one, of course.Ignoring cause and effect is usually most evident in those decrying the stupidity of humans ignoring cause and effect, in my experience, as they hunt down the witches and demand that the sinners conform to their enlightened doctrines.

Since the 1970s, how much land has become more arid around the globe? How much land has emerged from under ice? How much water vapor would be required to prevent these things which cause localized atmospheric heating which may be statistically called “global warming”? And what would the greenhouse effect of that necessary water vapor be when compared to that of CO2 or CH4? Carefully selected facts are the more convincing forms of fiction and religion.
