Flashback! When I was a kid a friend had an ex-movie star African lion. Used to take him for walks, and came aorund the corner one day to a couple seeing a 9 year old with a chain, and then the panic! Last time able to take him for a walk.
dzw: his name was Tyke, and he was in a couple Weissmuller Tarzan flicks. Being around him as a kid had a lot to do with why I was never afraid of big cats I encountered later, like cougar around the U.S., and some tigers in ’Nam. Big cats in the wild are COOL!!
When I was 4 someone foolishly let me take a part-chow/part German shepherd dog for a walk. He was gorgeous, but a little strong for me to handle. After he dragged me for awhile, he came back to lick my skinned knees. BUT — the kids who regularly bullied me crossed the street to avoid a confrontation with that dog. Tis a fond memory.
There are leash laws in our provincial parks. Or as one caretaker cheerful explained – “I don’t care what kind of pet you have, if you bring it camping, it must be on a leash.:” He was fond of referring to elephants and snakes on leashes. Made me wonder what kind of campers regularly visited.

I want to see him clean up after his pet, imagine the pooper scooper. Then again, as a wizard he can probably zap it out of existence.

…and I am hoping for a dragon or griffin on the end of that leash.
