Man in white: No...over the hurdles, sir. Now let's try it again...

That’s actually a pretty good idea… The groom-to-be has to pass the hurdles to get married… The test will give him a lot to think about. If he has any second thoughts this test will reinforce them and give him an out…’ Sorry dear, I failed to pass the practical exam so we can’t get married. Bye… better luck with the next one. I guess I’ll just have stay a bachelor and drive nice cars and have extra money to do what, go where, I want…’
We had a new kitten who always wanted to be in the middle of things. She saw me standing at the toilet and came running in and jumped. Her soggy leap out was followed by the both of us trying to catch and wash her. We keep the lid closed.
I put both seat and lid down in mixed company…Women don’t want to be bothered with putting the seat down before they sit, so might as well make them pick one up instead……
If guys leave the seat down, other guys will use the toilet without lifting the seat thinking they can shoot it through the seat without gettin’ sprinkles on the seat…..Guess what? Yeah, ewe….
First wife got me past the “in laws” & "mortgage ", but the marriage ended with one of her major complaints being the toilet lid not being put down. Seriously…it was one of her biggest bitches when she left me. Of course there were other problems on both sides….but the lid thing was a major issue. Thirty-five years later, re-married, I always put the seat and lid back down….oh how I’ve changed!!!
In-laws, babies, teens, giving up a job to support husband’s job, husband cheating are among hurdles that would-be wives have to deal with. So maybe women should follow exoticdoc2’s advice and not bother trying…
During our pre-marriage counseling with the minister he told us about couple splitting up over the small things. He used how toilet paper should be put on the roll. My husband-to-be & I just laughed and said it doesn’t matter. Fast forward 26 years & oh boy does it matter! Thankfully we have separate bathrooms.
Toilet seats are simple in our house. We have a large dog that will get a drink, and then come and give whoever is handy a big wet kiss. Thus, the lid stays down for a very good reason!!!!
I see a lot of good reasons for keeping the lid closed on toilets in today’s comments.1) It looks good, otherwise why have a lid.2) Keeps pets safe and healthy.3) Cuts down on the spread of bacteria. BTW fresh urine is sterile unless you are ill or have a UTI.4) Stops unintended objects from falling in.5) Toilet lid locks are a must have when there are toddlers in the house.6) It’s fair. Everyone has to lift something to use it!
You know, I actually saw that one and forgot about it. I’m still for closing it, though, if only because the cat uses it as an intermediate platform to get up on the vanity.
These are only pearls. The tiny grain they hide is the actual cause of discontent. But people do not allow these grains of discontent to be known, since they cannot, themselves, tolerate their existence. You can string each pearl as it appears, but as the single grain of discontent is not removed, another will replace it.

The intelligent thing is to leave the seat AND THE LID down… even if you don’t have a dog.

Right! Unfortunately 99% who marry ignore the hurdles. Anyway, it is a waste of time since almost no society gives a damn.

Would it be too hard to expect them to look to see if the seat is up or not?

Good endurance test. But don’t worry if you crash and burn at the teenagers. Everyone crashes and burns at the teenagers.
