God invented onions and garlic on his day off. He wasn’t working, he was playing…..God has an ego, too, you know…..Why do you think he made us stupider than Him?….He never did like us wise guys…Now his son, Hey, I’ve played euchre with him, he’s cool….but he worries too much about sick people, and the poor…He’s kinda moody that way….
The selfie stick: Proof that you’re an idiot! Now I admit did take a selfie decades ago with a Polaroid Swinger when it came out, but I got over myself & never did it again!
(Tripod+self-timer) > (selfie stick). OTOH More people travel on their own nowadays, and want to be in the photo without the hassle of a tripod. And I suppose sometimes people want to take photos or video when there’s nobody else around, and it is kind of practical. What this misses, though, is the kind of interactions and conversations we have had with people during our travels because of having asked them to take a photo of us, or having offered to take the group photo of them. Sometimes it’s locals, sometimes other tourists from as far in another direction as we are from ours; either way, the human interaction becomes part of the experience. People who rely on their selfie sticks seem to be in a psychological cocoon, as if they are viewing the experience from behind the windows of a tour bus, rather than being a part of it.
Pretty accurate, for reasons Wiley may not know. A reasonably compelling line of thought is that ego came into being with a breakdown of the strict division between the observer mind and the non-conscious mind where all learning and useful thought resides. Experiments demonstrate that these different minds exist in each of us and that the non-conscious one is actually handling our affairs. This may have happened something like 5,000 to 10,000 years ago, as human’s began interacting among groups more, and the adaptation was useful in new situations. And it is indeed also the cause for most of our problems, because the ego is now capable of interfering with the rational non-conscious.
Dour ScotsmanAnd what is it that makes you think you are the only important organism around?.DOSQueenSo does this mean you talk to yourself a lot?.Sorry, I had a bad day yesterday, losing both my glasses and car keys (first time for each), plus a minor, but annoying injury. Now my ego is getting in the way. At least it wasn’t my id, which, by definition, would make me an idiot. My ego is a super ego.
Dr_Zinj, hey, He’s God…..He (or She) can make bacon, onions and garlic all at once if He/She wants to!….. It wouldn’t take her any thyme at all…..What kind of sandwich do you want? An Angel will be right over….
I wouldn’t mind the selfie stick so much, if people weren’t so rude in the use of them. Great, you want a picture of you and yours in front of some tourist thing or whatever and don’t trust anyone around to hold it for you. Usually, I take pictures of someone with their camera, then they take pictures of us. As for selfie sticks, where I fall short is people that hold them up in front of me at a concert or whatever. Good way for me to end up holding your camera for the rest of the show. ;)
BTW, no selfie stick, often no tripod (they are a pain to hike with) but propped on a hood, rock, fence…. sometimes it’s nice to get a shot of yourself somewhere. That said, I tend to stay behind the camera much more then in front of it. :)

Funny thing about all those gods. About half of them went for young girls with a form of Mari in her name.
