    (old joke)

Q)- What’s the last thing that goes through a bee’s mind when it hits your windshield?

    A)- It’s stinger.

I wonder if automakers have a bee cannon like aircraft makers have a chicken cannon.

I read an article where a automobile manufacturer specified that the rear window of a car be stressed to withstand a 50 mph impact with a small object such as a pebble. The glass manufacturer ignored the specification since nobody drives 50 mph backwards.

The cars were shipped by train, rear window forward.

I am unable to confirm the story, but don’t ignore the specs; they are there for a reason.

As a complete non-sequitur (no pun intended), I immediately thought, “There’s Gold Bug” — [Richard Scarry’s “Cars and Trucks and Things That Go,” 1974]. Great kids’ book.

Remember the old when the bee would miss and fly in the vent window and your wife would scream like a banshee.

Test results: Human probability of survival – maybe not bad. Bug probability of survival – Zero.

You’ll soon need a little AI “crash-dummy” in there somewhere, too.

My money’s on the crash test bee. In fact, I think there’s an expression of concern on the face of the crash test dummy.
