Food look so apilling that doggie just eats.

He also accepts cat meds.

GG’s Rimadyl gets scarfed up in her dinner. This from a dog that was an open feeder or grazer when we adopted her five months ago. Chicken broth is a miracle treat.

Even if the cat swallows the pill, it will probably soon hack the pill up with whatever else it ate.

Nope, Sherwood spaniel ate the treat and then spat out the pill. Couldn’t sneak anything by him until those meaty medicated chews. I danced a jig.

Giving a cat a pill=trip to the ER

I had to give antibiotics to my kitten because of a feline coronavirus. I’d crush the pill, mix it with a tiny bit of baby food (the ones with only turkey or chicken), put it on my finger, then put it in his mouth. He wasn’t too happy, bur he didn’t bite or scratch. It worked, and he’s a healthy mischievous kitty now.

My sister puts our dog’s pill in a piece of fig newton. It’s the only thing he’ll eat without spitting it out.

My sis’s kitty boss Lou’s meds come in capsules that she breaks open & sprinkles on his food. He’s 14 lbs. (not fat, just BIG & strong – we think he’s part Bengal) & such a wild man that he has to have gabapentin before he goes to the Dreaded V.E.T., & she sprinkles that into the water from a can of people tuna & he slurps that right up. She says she can’t imagine having to actually pill him!

the difference between dogs and cats in a nutshell

Back in the days when we had to give our dog heartworm medicine every day (I was stationed in the Panama Canal Zone, heartworm was a problem there in the 70’s) he got quite talented in getting rid of the stuff. We tried hiding it in cheese spread, he would would manage to separate the pill from the cheese and spit out the pill. We switched to liquid medication, would mix it with cod liver oil (which he used to love), then squirt it into his mouth with an eyedropper. Ended up having to hold his mouth shut and he still managed to work a lot of it out, you could see the stuff come oozing out.

If kitty wants to die because too fussy to get medicine, doggie be happy to come to funeral.

we had to hold our girl’s muzzle closed to get her to swallow because she, like most dogs i suspect, had the amazing ability to extract the pill from whatever treat contained it and spit it out…
