I was once waiting on a railway platform and looked across to see someone that looked really familiar, but I couldn’t for the life of me remember his name. He was looking at me as well with clearly the same thoughts going through his head. We had to fess up and say “Hi, don’t I know you”.
I have prosopagnosia (an inborn neurological condition which limits my ability to recognize people’s faces). So I’m like that all the time, even sometimes at the office.
I have failed to recognize old high school acquaintances enough times that I know I need to be up-front and ask both their name and where I know them from.
This is SO me…except I freeze up and pretend I know the person…and then spend the next few days feeling like an idiot and trying to figure out how and from where.
