and that’s the state of most people’s Bible literacy

i watched the bible on the history channel.some of it was good.i liked seeing noah’s ark,moses parting the red sea and david versus goliath.i didn’t understand why a white guy didn’t play samson.happy 4th of july!

Thou shalt not witness false bears.Thou shalt not cover up thy neighbor’s wife.

What if the neighbors wife invites you over, is it “bothering” then? :)

Don’t eat grapes in the supermarket?! I missed that one. My mom did that all the time. It’s how she made sure they were okay. I don’t do it because they need to be washed first. Blegh.

If you read the story of Moses in the Bible you will be amazed at how much of what you thought you knew actually came from the movies. I refer of course to the movies from the ‘50s and ’60s. I have no idea what’s in the pseudo-Biblical movies of the past 40 years.

You can bet they’d probably be R or X rated.

Is there such an idyllic place anymore as the one where James and Ruthie are sitting? A hill overlooking fields and the town?

I like Ruthie’s tale – it is just as reasonable/believable as any other I’ve ever heard, but more enjoyable.

Interesting—Moses two tablets of the law use the Catholic numbering (from St. Augustine) where 1-3 refer to love of God, and 4-10 refer to love of neighbor.

What is Moses doing in sandals? God told him to take them off on sacred ground. Now, as a mindless leftover from the anti-hippy movement (no shirt, no shoes, no service), you may be in trouble for being barefooted in church. Reinforced by anti-Islamic bigotry.
