Wait, so the other dogs know their masters’ names?

At least he can write his owners name. That puts him ahead of a lot of High-School students that I have seen, (Can’t spell, can’t write, can’t put even two clauses together, can’t name the parts of the sentence.).

It should be noted that in earlier strips, he did know Charlie Brown’s name.

In some states, people are not allowed to OWN dogs, cats, gerbils, whatever. They must be referred to as being a “Custodian.” PC at its finest.

Is he embarrassed that he doesn’t know his owner’s name, or is he embarrassed that his owner is Charlie Brown?

In early Peanuts strips, Snoopy was just a dog in the neighborhood and definitely did not belong to Charlie Brown.

Surely, The Daisy Hill Puppy Farm would already have this vital information in their records….

I thought he’d immediately put “That round-headed kid who feeds me”.
