I seem to recall that he was made Camp President when he had a paper bag over his head. Maybe with a mailbox over his head he will get some Valentine Cards?
Did Charlie send out any Valentine cards? I don’t remember seeing him do that. When I was his age, we would exchange cards at school. My fifth grade teacher would pair us up with a partner for square dancing and giving and receiving cards. I never got a card in the mail.
A guy in a construction crew working on a house a couple of doors down backed into my mailbox last year. They fixed it, but it’s still not exactly right. And, the guy denied it until I produced a neighbor who saw it all. Next boring story!
I had my own period of problems with Valentine’s Day growing up, but for me it was in high school. The big girls’ choice dance at my school was always on or near Valentine’s, and I had hoped by my junior year, in addition to starting to go on dates, I thought I had built up enough good will to where girls would have invited me, but none did that year. I was asked to the next two girls’ choice dances in the cycle, but when the Valentine’s dance for my senior year came around, no invite then either. Making things worse, I was at the time working at a reception facility as a kitchen steward and dishwasher, and one group of girls were going to have their dinner with their dates there. One of the girls in that group was a banquet server at the facility , and she was who arranged it. I stayed in the kitchen most of the evening, so I wouldn’t have to face my friends. It took a break down the next year in college over Valentine’s Day to end my resentment. Now I see today more to show appreciation for the people in my life who truly matter, not to lament unrealized romantic opportunities. Happy Valentine’s Day one and all.

It’s Valentine’s Day, it’s automatically your worse Valentine’s Day no matter which one it is, Charlie Brown. In fact it’s the worst day of the year.

Getting your head stuck in a mailbox is probably worse than getting your hand stuck in a Pringles can.
