I believe that he’s actually referring to the fact that the idea of lemmings jumping off cliffs originated in the Disney nature film White Wilderness", which staged the scene. If Fred did pay the pilot in advance, like eddie 6192 says, the pilot got there a tad too late.

I can’t believe how long it’s been since we had more than a tiny token appearance by the crocs.

It strikes me that those who comment that a certain comic strip is too boring, still take time to read the strip and comment :-p

Looks like Pastis even thinks the Lemming strips are lame, and is running them on Saturdays in the hope that fewer people will see them. He likes to do that with lame strips.
