Pig: How you doing, neighbor Nancy?
Nancy: Just got back from a long trip. Now I'm carrying a few extra pounds.
Pig: You don't look very fat.
Nancy: British pounds. I forgot to exchange them.
Pig: That could have gone better.
Pig and Rat are always calling people “neighbor”, Neighbor Bob, Neighbor Nancy, etc., but their neighbors never seem to call them Neighbor Pig and Neighbor Rat. Hmm.
That was a sterling comment. I remember using the old currency pre -1971 Pound shillings and pence. We had a 240/1 ratio then then it changed to 100/1. February 15 1971 Decimalization Day
I used to come back from trips to the UK with two pence pieces. They are/were the same size as Canadian dollar coins, so it was possible to use them in parking metres. Somebody spoiled the fun by altering loonies after a while.

Those pounds are not as heavy as the used to be.

Good thing she wasn’t waiting for a friend to show up; she might have said she was expecting.

They aren’t green. The one pound note was replaced by a coin years ago. (The note had Isaac Newton on it.)
And – to the horror of many Americans – from 2000 to now Charles Darwin was on the ten pound note. In 2017 Jane Austin gets a turn.

I bet tourists retuning from the UK get that a lot.

This one really wasn’t Pig’s fault. I think most people would have interpreted her statement the way he did.
Wilde Bill about 8 years ago
Shouldn’t that be Euros? Scotland still uses pounds.
Oshietekun about 8 years ago
Good thing it was neighbor Nancy. Pigita would have knocked him out.

I think I’m dreaming, somebody pence me.

Believe me, she’ll infer from that statement that she is “somewhat” fat, as opposed to “very”.

You could at least try to make the strip funny.

should have exchanged them a month ago.
The Brexit has definitely hurt the value of those bills

Wish I had Nancy’s problems. My extra pounds are not the kind you can spend.

First time I was in Great Britain (90s) one beer cost one pound (actually they called it “a quid”). Nice basis for a currency!

It’s your usual problem, Pig. At least this time she didn’t deck you! And, even more amazing, you recognized your error!

Has PIG gained weight? or is that the way he evolved?

Frankly, I’m surprised. That Pig escaped injury, I mean.
