Didn’t he write that book, “Under the Bleachers”? So this must be his mom, Mrs. Butts.

That reminds me of a joke from elementary school (back in the dark ages): A woman had two dogs named Seymour and Frieshou. One day as she was getting ready for work the dogs escaped. So there she was on the front porch in her slip, yelling “Frieshou! Seymour!”

That was the height of comedy in second grade!

Okay I didn’t see that coming. And humans, and animals should never be dating each other. I never understood that in cartoons. Stick with your own species

You know, Pastis, if your own characters keep complaining about your writing, maybe your subconscious is trying to tell you something.

Gad, I’m so tired of reading puns in what has been my favorite strip. I stopped reading Overboard when it became nothing more than Fred Bassett lite. Why do cartoonists seem to go out of their way to destroy their strips’ humor?

And then there was the one about those birds, the Ratives, who lived on a tropical island. When storms came, the winds would throw them out of their homes, and people would look at each other and say, “Well, the Ratives are nestless tonight.”

This is doubly, no; triply bad. Pig is again stuck with that horrible piggy Pigita; he and we are stuck with another terrible pun from Cartoon-Boy; and, worst of all, Pig and we and even Cartoon-Boy are all aware of just how bad it is! HELP!
