Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for November 06, 2016
Transcript:
Phoebe: I wish it would stop raining. Marigold: It will stop eventually. Phoebe: I still don't really understand why you can't use magic to make it stop. Marigold: You have never really understood the unicorn code. Nature must be allowed to follow it's own plan, without excessive magical interference. Phoebe: Earlier, you made it rain salad dressing on the lawn, before you ate some of it. Marigold: Grass being delicious is part of nature's plan. Phoebe: My umbrella still smells like balsamic vinaigrette.

1. Just be glad it wasn’t Ranch, kid. 2. Marigold’s tiny umbrella is both adorable and brain-pulverizingly pointless, I love it. 3. That trees-in-the-rain effect though, SO nice.

Nature has no plan. It does what it needs to do to sustain itself, and improves itself by accident.

Nature functions the way it is due to what the universe got set up by the Big Bang. The parameters go back that far. Slightly different parameters produce another way for Nature to function. There is a certain regularity to how Nature functions under different conditions. To humans it looks like it is planned. Which is a false impression.

Wish we could get rain here in North Georgia. We’ve been without rain for 50+ days!

Phoebe must’ve learned by now that unicorns do whatever pleases them.

I still go with the “whatever is funny” hypothesis. Rain stopping is not funny. Salad dressing raining on the lawn is funny.

We got rain.

Making it rain salad dressing on the lawn isn’t interfering with Nature’s plan. Plus if Marigold did her spell earlier in the same day, then Nature might be trying to clean off the salad dressing smell off the grass.
