In response to yesterday’s comments – Macushlalondra (hope I spelled that right) Yes! I get Retail in my paper. Love that strip – wish it was here on gocomics. It’s a favorite in the break room. We don’t get the daily paper in the break room, but do get the Sunday paper and more than once, someone has cut out a Retail strip and posted it for everyone to see. We had the one about the dirty break room refrigerator posted on our refrigerator door for quite a while. So true to life!

In response to Charles Wolfe Jr yesterday – how did you guess? Yes,I do work at Wally World. I actually do like my job, but I’m not so thrilled with our managers. They make us be cross trained so we can mix paint, cut keys, make out fishing and hunting licenses, dip fish and cut fabric while they don’t all know how to do all those things themselves. Once, we had nobody in the jewelry department and nobody in the surrounding areas who knew how to take links out of a watch band. This customer had just bought this watch from us. The irate customer demanded to speak to a manager (he was right to be so irate). I had an awful time convincing a manager to see the customer. The manager wanted me to handle the situation. I don’t even work anyplace close to the jewelry department. I finally managed to get this inept manager out to the sales floor (I didn’t quite have to go so far as to punch him and drag him out, but it was getting close to that). And all the manager did was tell the customer that someone would be coming in to the jewelry department in just an hour and suggested he wait. NOT a proper response! But it’s very indicative to how most managers are in my store. It’s the people like me – the peons who keep the store running while managers sit back in their office talking and laughing and ignoring our needs.

I do all the things Opal does. My husband, though, can knit and crochet……learned during frigid winters in Indiana. He also does wood carving and leather work. And he is a better cook than I am. We always have hobbies going on in our house.

And I can squish a bug!

For some reason, pest control seems to be my responsibility. Maybe I have a lower tolerance for them, but I buy the traps, poisons, swatters, etc. and use them. However, if there is a mammal or reptile corpse involved, he has the responsibility to dispose of it. At least I trained my sons how to use a fly swatter, etc., so I’ve got help now.

Are Earl’s talents even counted as “Talentworthy?”
