I could never figure out why Campbellās soup always said to add 2Ā½ cans of water to one can of soup. Are there actually people who think thatās the right consistency for chicken noodle? For bean with bacon?
Just be glad Earl didnāt try to follow the directions on the can. The water would have spilt all over place the place when he put the water into the can.
When my son was a teenager, he and his friends often fixed soup for themselves ā one can each. Iād usually let them pick what they wanted from the cupboard. One day, a new friend grabbed for a can that was missing its label. āBut thatāsāā I started. āI donāt care which it is,ā he said, as he cut into the can with an opener. āIām adventurous.ā He was. That was the day Zack ate a whole can of almond paste for lunch.

I think Daughter should invite her dad over for dinner, especially since she lives right next door.

I never add water to canned soup. It gets watery enough just by heating.

DaDoctahā¦.. Umā¦. I think you need to read those instructions again!
Itās one can of water per can of condensed soup.
Half milk, half water, for tomato soup, to make cream of tomato.
Ā
The ā2 and 1/2ā that you remember is the number of servings they say you get from that total of 21 oz of liquidā¦ as if.
Ā
Janbicā¦. are you sure youāre talking aout condensed soup?
Youāre not supposed to add water to ready-to-eat varietiesā¦.
but condensed soup is, as Earl says, like puddingā¦.
very very salty pudding, at that.
In fact, I donāt eat canned soup any more cos of the ridiculous salt content.

The canned soups that we buy are ready for heating and eating, no addition required.

In really lean times, my mother fed 2 adults and 2 children with one can of tomato or chicken & noodle soup. It was warm and kept us alive!

In the ready to eat category, Wolfgang Puck is a huge offender of too much salt.
