My grandfather use to say that one should not name their food. Hence, we didn’t name the chickens, pigs or cows. However, a couple of times he called the pigs, Tasty.
I took care of horses and other animals on my uncle’s farm in NY every year for 3 months before going back to school, plus the other farm animals. I could never ever eat horse meat. Sorry people but to me they were for riding. Period. JMHO

Don’t have the reference, but somewhere from the Bible is the instruction to eat animals with cloven hooves only.

How sad, all these comments and no mention of Deuteronomy Chapter 14. Whether you’re a believer or not, this is where it came from. Also Leviticus 11.
