Okay i’ll admit i’m confused here. Did Earl go shopping with Opal. Then forget and somehow wandered back to the house leaving Opal behind.

Looks like it’s going to be an interesting evening at the Pickles residence!

There are 2 possibilities: 1. He drove her to the store and walked home or 2. He did not drive her to the store and she thought he did.

That car looks like a Studebaker.

When was the last time Opal went shopping without Earl? She always makes him go to the places he doesn’t want to and she does.

This is why I carry a phone when I go shopping. Well, this and the one where I call home and say “Sweety, I found a real bargain on slightly out of date lutefisk-stuffed dill pickles, how much do we want?” (or at last, from her response, that’s what she must have heard me say). And the other one where I call home and say “Sweety, I left the list on the end of the counter. Could you read it to me, pretty please?”

How did he get home?

Whatever happened It will be Earl’s fault forever!

I always thought Earl would be the first to lose it.

Is it a 1955 Oldsmobile?

I smell a Silver Alert coming….

If a tree falls in the forest and there’s no wife to hear it, for some BS reason the husband is still gonna be wrong.

This happened to me with my ex-wife one time. She was at work and I was waiting for her at home. Suddenly I get a call and she starts chewing me out for not having picked her up yet when I calmly tell her that she had the car. The next thing I hear is click and silence.

I think she drove herself and forgot he was not there.

This is a repeat. One of my Pickles favorites.

Do we need to worry about Opal starting to lose it?

Opal THOUGHT she went with Earl, but she went by herself.

She’s driving herself? Crazy.

I wonder how long she sat there waiting.

She wondered where that pain in her neck got to.

I walked out of the bank the other day. I was engrossed in reading some information and climbed into the back seat of my car. When I finished reading, I looked up. I was hoping nobody in the bank was watching as a climbed out and got into the driver’s seat.

I see it the other way around. He drove them to shopping but he forgot he drove there and took a bus home leaving Opal waiting for him in the car.

Very interesting to see how this works out ! Got to wait until tomorrow ;-)

For folks with a loved one with dementia, this is the saddest strip of all time.

I think Earl is going to be in big trouble even if this is not his fault.

I hope we get a follow up on this.. be interesting to see how Opal blames Earl for this one.

Sounds like me

Once had a man report his wife missing. Said he dropped her at the grocery while he went to a hardware store, and when he went back, she never came out. He sounded pretty sure about all that, and we had people in two counties running around looking for her, alerts, bulletins, everything. Finally, she called from the hardware store saying she went in with her husband and he vanished.

Had a lady here who took one of the family cars to Xmas shop at the mall. Came out to discover the car was gone. Called troopers who put out an alert. When the responding trooper drove her home, the car was in the drive. Her teenager forgot which he’d borrowed to go to the mall. Forgetful behavior knows no minimum age.

I think it’s pretty clear that she drove her self and forgot. The interesting thing will be to see how this continues.

There will be a lot of heat and noise when she gets home, until she realizes…

It is 2021 right? Cell phones do exist don’t they?

This strip is a rerun. I hope it was on purpose otherwise the Brian Crane is the one having issues. This was one of my favorites. I had it hanging on my refrigerator for years.

WOW! Earl’s got a 1955 Studebaker Champion!

I think it may be a 1951 Studebaker Commander Starlight Coupe. Worth anywhere from $5000 to $30000 depending on condition. We need to get Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz to take a look at this.

I could swear that I read a four-panel comic in the last two weeks (I thought it was Pickles, but apparently not) where the woman is waiting in the car just like this, but then she realizes on her own that she drove herself. Does anyone else remember this or have I lost my mind?

Well High Test gas cans for Studebakers are hard to find.

not funny. dementia is the monster in the closet that I fear more than any other.

Looks lke she is in passenger seat and waiting for Earl to come back to the car and drive them home.

I just love that Studebaker Commander. My dad had one when I was just learning to drive. The inside was HUGE. There was almost no transmission hump and it was so quiet. No, he never let me even sit in the drivers seat. I learned in a Beetle.

Women!!!!! no matter what, the man is wrong

It’s much much much more likely that she would return to the car and forget Earl didn’t drive her, than for Earl to walk all the way home and then forget, and to for him not to remember when his daughter asks him.

Opal drove herself, then thought Earl had wandered off (or hadn’t returned to meet her at the car after he got pie or something). She’s sitting there fussing at him, but it’s not his fault.

1) Based on the available evidence, I’m siding with the “Opal-went-shopping-by-herself-and-forgot-that-Earl-didn’t-go-with-her” crowd.

2) Remember that they don’t live in our universe, so it is entirely possible that in their universe, this car is the latest model.
