There have been some studies of how well older folks do at remembering things. In fact, it turns out that it works much better if both of a couple “sort of remember” so they can cue each other.
This is about the most true comic I’ve ever read. My wife can tell me what I was wearing when a certain incident took place. I don’t remember the incident.
Having both remember the best times is a good thing. Having one remind the other of those best times also is good. When there is love memories will make it stronger.
“Shared memory” is a tricky compromise. I was a bit of a raconteur (no, really) in my younger days and knew how to tell a story. It was horrible when my first wife felt like it was necessary to correct the name of a motel, the length of a movie, or the age of one of the people. It made absolutely no difference to the story, one way or the other, and completely disrupted the flow. The people to whom I was speaking and I were embarrassed for her but there was nothing to do but sit and blink quietly while she made these amendments. :)
My hubby would have roared over this one. He usually read Pickles before me and I know he would have said, “You need to print out Pickles and put it on the fridge!”.

But do two people remember something the same way? Of course not.

Unfortunately, two versions of remembering an event can lead to serious arguments!!

Good strategy, Earl. Opal will remember everything you did wrong 45 years ago.

But, if you forget your mistakes, you might repeat them.

There is not.
Also, a recent study showed that people were more likely to forget things they can google. So that’s the “second person”.

Don’t worry – your wife will be there to remind of something you did wrong 20 years ago and dog you and hound you for it until the end of days.
Then again I’m bitter.
