The problem with it is that many of them come to me broke and asking for money, unable to pay their bills or provide for their families. But they can spend a thousand on tattoos.
Man! Y’all are harsh – and uninformed. I’ve had my tats for years and they look new because I take care of them. I’m plugger age and don’t mind a lady with ink at all. It’s a freedom to chose kinda thing.
The problem I have with the “Inked” is that for all they claim their markings are “Meaningful” there is NO AGREED-UPON vocabulary.
Maori facial tatoos clearly indicate a wealth of information to those who have learned the “Language.” American Tatoos are just random noise, each person claiming his/her own “special meanings” that are totally inconprehensible to anyone else.
that’s just one thing that pluggers long for in the past. It isn’t necessarily the past we long for , but our youth IN those days,‘when we were young and sure to have our way’.those were the days my friend
I was at work and had a customer with pure pornography all over his arms. So help me, I had to look the other way when I told him to, “Sign this document.”
There is nothing feminine or masculine about tatoos. They show a very insecure personality, usually. To say that some of these comments are harsh, truth often sounds harsh. The human body was created in God’s image. God, Jesus Christ in the flesh, knew His body did not need tatoos because it was already beautiful. Fearfully (love factor) and wonderfully made.
Well, I like my body art. Nobody made me do it; I liked the designs (mostly animals) and even designed some myself..If looked after, tattoos need not fade, as @1after909 said. I’m 58 and I would rather have tattoos than a tan.
Ink isn’t for everyone. If you don’t like tats, don’t get any. Simple, isn’t it? Personally, I’ve got 5 so far. Planning to get more. People think I’m nuts for protecting my ink from the sun (long sleeves in the sun, even in summer, when it’s bloody hot out!), but I don’t want my investments to fade, and don’t particularly want to tan either.
I need to limit my direct sun exposure anyway (for reasons that need not be mentioned here), so it works out across the board.Sure, tats can limit your career / employment choices, but people that want to be in those fields either don’t get inked, get ink in easily hidden places, wear clothing that covers said ink at work, or if they got their tats when they were young and not thinking about their future, have them removed I suppose.I’ve never worked anywhere that had issues with my ink. I wear long sleeves on interviews and at work till I find out how they feel about ink.
I also have long hair and earrings (that I don’t wear at work for safety reasons). Sometimes you have to decide what’s more important to you, a job, or being who you are. I love my job and I get to be who I am. No compromises.
Everybody’s judgmental about something, it’s human nature. What surprises me is how all tattoos look like they were created by the same person – like mass produced reprints. For that much moola, I’d want something completely unique!

It’s purely voluntary..If you don’t want one, you don’t have to have one (or look).
My grandfather had tattoos and he wasn’t an ex sailor, fairground worker, docker, ex con or self-harmer..

The problem with it is that it’s something that cannot easily be erased.

That’s NOT communication.

I have no tattoos because I have yet to come up with anything worthy of the canvas.

Only one of my tattoos can be seen and then only when the inside of my ankle is exposed. I get them for myself, not to communicate to anyone else.
Although I have seen some that I know are attention seeking or soon to be regretted. We all choose our paths. Some just wind around more.
