I’ve learned to be wary of " short cuts" . I ended up backing up for almost a mile in the dark once. Didn’t save much time there.

My first husband didn’t believe in detour signs. He always swore the workers had forgotten to remove them. He’d swerve merrily around the roadblock and go ahead, then curse and rant when he had to turn around and go back. I swear, with the right jury I could have gotten off.

And all the while, the sat-nav is saying, “Turn right immediately.”

It’s not a shortcut- it’s the scenic route!

He remembered this road when he was a kid. It seemed so much wider then.

This looks like the mountain pass road from Ouray to Telluride in Colorado.

Looks like the ‘shortcut’ road, ‘The Black Bear Road’, that C.W. McCall told us about a few years back ! ! !

Looks like a “shortcut” in the Alps to see the Tour de France … what’s worst our gas gauge was on “empty.”

The longest distance between two points is a shortcut.

I think I’ve been on that road. It is on Red mountain on the border between Riverside and San Diego counties. It was truly an adventure!

My wife’s uncle gave us directions from his house to her cousin’s house. Instead of giving us the direct route. He gave us the indirect. I guess that he doesn’t like interstates.
