Tropical pluggers’ favorite snow shovels are unnecessary snow shovels.

We Pluggers in the desert regions of Arizona laugh at those in other regions who have to contend with this.;-D

Hey, the favorite is the one belonging to the kid down the block that shovels your driveway and walk. Make sure you give him a good recommendation to your friends.

Depends on the type of snow (heavy/wet vs Dry/fluffy) as to which is my favorite ;-)

Pluggers also know how to make heavy, wet snow slide off of a shovel instead of having an extra 10 pounds cling to it with each load.

I have one with a steel blade that I’ve been using for at least 30 years. I like it because I can chip ice with it when needed.

Not a fave shovel, too big a place for a shovel to be useful, we use a snow blower for the smaller stuff.. but I DO have a fave fork for the barn work..

A plugger also has more than one snow shovel because they don’t make ’em like they used to…

I wore out the edge on my old heavy push shovel. Twice. Replaced it with a steel strip. Hardest part was finding old fashioned rivets you could flatten with a ball peen hammer. The guy at the H#$% De#$%^ sent me to an old family run hardware store (now out of business) that did indeed have them. I’ve now graduated to a Troy Bilt (cardiologist thought it a good idea) but still use that old shovel to clean up hard to get at areas.

In the early 60s when snow blowers were just becoming available for home use in the states, my whole family went together and got my dad one for Christmas. It was exciting because we actually had a huge snowstorm Christmas Day and we would be able to watch it work. Of course, we first had to assemble it, which we did in the dining room. Then we discovered it was too large to get out the door, so we disassembled it and then reassembled it outside. Then, ta da — nothing. The snow was too wet and heavy for the blower.

Shoveled much snow in my youth, now I just wait for it to melt. Worst case was 16 days.

My favorite is the steel blade repairable one because of that fact.

I destroyed my favorite snow shovel this past winter. Never again will this plugger utter snow and shovel at the same time.

You’re a plugger if you have a favorite nose picking finger.

Plastic grain shovels with a D handle work better than snow shovels. I have 2 of them and being a true plugger, I proselytize about them, too.

My favorites were Melnor snow shovels and pushers. Very durable, but being made with recycled plastics they were softer, and wore out from being ground against the pavement. Sadly they do not make them anymore.

A great day on the Island. Right now it’s 4º C and going to get to 9 or even 10º C. No snow, partly cloudy to partly sunny throughout the day. Rain forecast Wednesday night to next Monday.

I actually have two favorite shovels, a light one for freshly fallen snow and a heavier metal one for breaking through ice layers.

I leave mine out all winter on the patio for easy access! Both of them! One for deep, one for shallow.

Back when I lived where I had to shovel snow, my favorite snow shovel was a grain scoop. I still have it, just use it for different things now.
