In Psyc class we were told that it is OK to talk to yourself. It is even OK to answer yourself. When you need to worry is when you start to interrupt yourself!
I used to tell the people that worked for me when I talked to myself (and answered of course) that it was the only way I could get any intelligent conversation.
In college, I had a friend who used to walk around singing. I asked him why and he said he had two reasons. First, he sang to cheer himself (and maybe others) up; and second, if you walk around singing you are less likely to be mugged because muggers tend to avoid people who are behaving unpredictably.

Some Pluggers are unaware that they talk out loud because their voices carry more than they think.;D

If you don’t talk to yourself, these days, where are you going to find an intelligent conversation?

It only becomes a problem when you hear another voice and there is no one else around.

It’s called “speaking in my own presence” according to the late great Steve Allen.

It’s OK. Everyone does it, at least subvocally. The problem only begins when you start listening to yourself talking to yourself. :)

I told my husband I was miffed about something, and he said, "I know. You’ve been walking around, muttering about it, all morning. "

There’s no harm in talking to yourself, but listening to yourself can get youself in trouble.

Oh no, it’s more like, I walk around talking to myself — telling myself to stop talking to myself!

I do – all the time. I am about the only one I like to listen to!
