And we feel sheepish when we fall asleep watching TV.

Went to sleep last night and the Phillies were winning. Woke up to the reality of a 6-5 loss to the Dbacks.

In a few weeks, daylight savings time will end, and the Pluggers will begin wishing they could stay up past 8 o’clock.

When my wife and I go to social gatherings, we are usually the first to leave. When we let the host/hostess know we are leaving, we usually get a “Oh so early/soon” comment to which I reply that we “turn into pumpkins at 9 pm” which is our bed time.

Bed time is 8pm, right along with my 9yo son. By the time we turn lights out it is 9pm. I get up for work at 3am, work day starts at 4am. Good part of that is I miss all the heavy traffic to and from work.

I plan on staying up late starting when I don’t have to get up early for work in a couple of years.

If it’s 9:00 pm and I’m awake, it’s usually because we stayed up to finish a movie or I’m reading. Otherwise I’m ready for lights out about that time.

The saying goes “When I was little, my mom made me go to bed at 9. I couldn’t wait until I was grown up and could stay up as late as I wanted! Turns out, it’s 9 o’clock!”

These days, when I arrive home, by 7:30-ish, I’m in my bed, trying to sleep … and, often wake at 10:30-ish, and can’t … :/

Proof I’m not a plugger, then. When I was little, I rarely went to bed before 10pm. Now, that I’m retired and can follow my own schedule, bedtime is closer to 4am.

I’ve often wondered if our internal clocks have any correlation to the time of day (or night) that we were born.

Oh, I can go past 9 easy, but that getting to 11 without nodding off… oh well.

Right now it is 3:52am. A bit later than normal – usually go up to bed closer to 3 am. Neither of us was a morning person before Covid and with no reason to follow a “normal” schedule we go to bed late and wake late. (I admit to being much worse than husband about staying up late and waking late.) If we need to – rare since start of Covid – we do wake up earlier – such as if we have a reenactment event.
