When I was a kid every church, every school, every club of any size published it’s own newsletter. People wrote articles for fanzines. People published their own magazines in their basements and sold them in the mail or just gave them away. I used to read “The General” magazine published by the game company Avalon Hill, which printed articles from other people who also loved to play board games. All kinds of other businesses and manufacturers used to publish books and magazines devoted to their products. Recipes, patterns, ideas, special interest stuff. Yeah, you can find that sort of thing on line, but it’s not the same.
People wrote, and published their own comics, games, stories, magazines. We didn’t need mass distribution. We did it to be creative, not to get rich. Well, getting rich was cool, too. But it never happened.
Nowadays this still happens, sorta. But it takes things like kickstarter and patreon. I miss the old days, with four color printing and Ben Day dots. I miss comics like Conan the Barbarian, Creepy, Eerie, Mad and other old black and whites.

It’ll save a few trees to compensate for the Amazon’s loss.

We still have Go Comics.

Except that we’re reading them here, Scott.
Look on the bright side: Maybe it just means no more newspaper restrictions. Like endlessly shrinking size and a ridiculous six-week lead time.

I’ve not seen a comic in a newspaper in a long time other than the occasional editorial cartoon.

No comments on the loss of coverage of local stories which is what would concern me most.

Ummmm….the online papers still have the comics. And you also have GoComics and ArcaMax.

Is ArcaMax another version of Go Comics?
