If that is not the epitome of pathetic then I don’t know what is!!

It seems to me that “woke” is the new “politically correct”, which is just a proxy for putting ideological purity over common sense. That’s one thing at least that’s common to some on both left and right.

Conservatives oppose being aware.

They like to use phrases from the left, and then hammer them until they become pejoratives. It’s effective as propaganda, I’ll give them that. But that’s all it is.

The phrase means that you’ve become aware of systemic injustice. How horrible. It’s used by the young, because it’s usually in the late teens and early 20s that people go, “Oh, crap, look at this.”

Conservatives use “woke” as the current epithet of choice because it’s black slang, so there’s a racial component to the attack too. And they know racially tinged attacks work. Because race isn’t an issue anymore, of course.

The ‘woke’ did not cancel Colin Kapernick.

Societies are always in flux. Change is normal. Don’t be concerned. Everything will be fine when the next guy comes to power.

“Woke” and “Cancel Culture” are two terms the political Right have coopted at weapons of distraction and oppression. Carmen’s people have rendered them meaningless.
