No, the beautiful souls are there. Just the anger makes for good headlines and ratings, which means more money for the broadcasters. Gotta remember: Peace is boring, war is profitable.
The NYT recently published an editorial wherein the author recommended that Democrats refrain from criticizing Republicans in general and Trump supporters in particular. It did no good to call them morons, fascists, stupid idiots, haters, etc., etc. Those aspersions merely made them more intransigent and Trump’s rhetoric DID point to some valid issues. After all, the similar criticisms that the Democrats receive won’t cause them to lessen their support for Harris.
All right, the writer’s position does have legs. However, after four years of Trump — now widely regarded (by Democrats and traditional Republicans) as one the worst and most destructive presidents in US history — how is it possible to respect the folks who are die hard Trump supporters now?
The modern GOP has but one aim, oppose everything the Dems get up to. The automatic gain saying of every Democratic proposal has become pathological. The name for this pathology is Oppositional Defiant Disorder, symptoms include:
frequent anger
irritable mood
Short tempered
Argumentative
Refusing to comply with requests from other adults.
Questioning or disregarding rules.
Blames others for mistakes or misbehaviour.
Easily annoyed by others
angry and resentful
spiteful and vindictive.
Deliberately annoys others.
This pretty sums up trump and his fascist band of hapless miscreants. Adults who manifest ODD can have difficulty with family members and coworkers. They do not deal well with confrontation.
I believe this is a conditioned response to the firehouse stream of fear mongering and lies aimed at culturally conservative vulnerable communities. rwnj propaganda inflames this for their advantage.
The whole party is choosing to nominate a man who is hated by a majority of Americans precisely because it makes them unhappy and angry.
It increases their propensity to reject any outcome they don’t like.
Stanti, is your podcast buddy, Ted, who has verbally gone on recorded record multiple times with his muthuh bleeping of the media and the Dem power structure, a “nice” person?:
If we think it’s the norm, it becomes the norm in our minds. Think back to the last trip you made to the grocery store. (Or any place with many people) How much social disruption was there among the dozens there? Isn’t that the norm over time, place?
Lets review the mechanism of trolling: Make a stupid self serving post that attracts responses. Using another account, make wildly provocative posts in reply. When fiery replies proliferate, delete the provocative posts so the angry replies look crazy and/or misdirected. Voila, stupid self serving post is the featured comment for the day. Repeat til November 5.
