I got my typewriter tuned up before the shop closed. I still have the colour portable TV of my mother’s in case my big black plastic CRT set dies. The phone books lately are almost all Yellow Pages but I think I may have looked for something there less often than the number of fingers I have on one hand, in my lifetime.
As in, throw them in the pail; garbage pail that is. (Actually the old typewriters are a hot item. I own a Remington 5. There’s something about the clacking of those keys that brings back memories.)
B&W tv doesn’t work because it can’t decode the digital broadcast signal. I miss analog TV. Sound and picture kept going, even if it got fuzzy. You didn’t completely lose the story, or punch line, or who done it. I watched TV 70 miles away from broadcast point with analog. Now the signal can’t make it 15 miles without turning into unin t l g le ga bag .
Actually, I saw somewhere recently that there’s a place in NYC that repairs typewriters. There are still a number of them around, particularly in government offices.

Just boot up your Commodore 64 and do a search on-line… as soon as the dial-up connection quits squawking at you….

He’s not a dinosaur – he’s a hipster! (…but it would probably make him feel even worse if you told him that)
