My wife was in labor with our youngest and doing the nesting thing. I got out of her way and went to do yard work and then washed the windows on the House. Unfortunately, I fell off the ladder and broke my leg. We both ended up in the hospital that day. Fortunately, my sister was there quickly to watch the other kids. I was lying on the ground in pain thinking to myself this is going to be funny someday. Then I started laughing and it hurt more, and I then I laughed more, and it hurt more.
After the third time someone came in to the examining room to ask my wife her name, date of birth, and insurance account number, I wrote that information on her belly with a marker pen. The hospital people were Not Amused.
Twins, labor started 22 years ago on February 28th. Took several hours. Born on the 29th. They took a long time and have been late for everything ever since. I kid. But there were times when we had to light a fire under them to get any sort of response.

The star of that story is whoever is telling it.

Dad had to change a flat tire in the rain on the way to the hospital.
