I read the ingredients on an ice cream container once. One of the ingredients is used in making asphalt!! Beaver is at least organic.

It’s actually from their “castor gland.”

We buy vanilla beans and soak them in vodka to make our own. It is a very popular Christmas gift.

    Patently False!!!!

Beaver Anal Gland Secretions are used in Vanilla Flavoring, ie: the fake stuff, not in pure Vanilla Extract. So remember folks when you go to the grocery store, you are what you eat.

When beaver secretions were actually used, it was referred to as “natural vanilla flavor”. But it’s too expensive nowadays, so they just use the fake stuff or real vanilla.

unfortunately this is sometimes true. The ingredient is called castoreum and comes from the castor sacs of beavers. This is information that I really didn’t need or want to know.
