Breezy’s line reminds me of when Genesius Guild, a community theater in Rock Island, IL, did Peace by Aristophanes. When they do Ancient Greek comedies, they operate on the premise that most of the humor in them is Ancient Greek topical humor, so they substitute modern topical humor. At one point Ares set his best boy Arnold Katzenjammer to guard the goddess of peace. Arnold’s plan: “I vill stab zem vith my sword. I vill shoot zem vith my machine gun. I vill put oil on my skin and glisten at zem. I vill talk in a monotone and bore zem to death.”

Conan the Pancakian. Was that oil or syrup he rubbed on?
