The first seventeen United States presidents, except John Quincy Adams (sixth), William Henry Harrison (ninth) and James Knox Polk (eleventh), did not have middle names.
Did not know that about alligator eggs. Barely registers as a ‘surprise’ that Washington had no middle name, much less something closer to ‘astonishment’. I’ve personally been acquainted with people who had no middle names and never thought of it as a big deal.
So with climate change and rising temperatures alligators may become extinct as only one gender will be produced in a warmer world? The consequences of human actions are far reaching and unanticipated indeed.
I am utterly more shocked than that bear that Washington doesn’t have a middle name! I need to sit down and take that in! Mind BLOWN to the exosphere!!!! Done it again, Riply!!!
A bit of quick research revealed the following. Alligator eggs incubated between the higher and lower temps will result in an equal ratio of male-female hatchlings. Regarding the bear, it finally climbed back down the pole on its own, without being harmed.

I thought President George Washington’s middle name was George?
Also, that thing about alligators also applies to some other species of egg-laying animals (although at different temperature thresholds)

George Washington didn’t need one.
So, in nature too, males are hotter than females?
