Tip: Pick it up FACING you, not AWAY from you.

Turtles are usually more chill than that. They know they live longer than just about everybody else, so not much can faze them.

(That said, I once visited a friend whose turtle was allowed free run of the living room, and proceeded to sneak up behind everyone sitting on the floor and nip them in the rear end. Then, after running out of victims, he went behind the VCR and fixed the loose cables.)

Turtles don’t usually hang out on branches where only a bird could sit.

Curiosity almost killed the kitten!

Snapping turtles will “snap” to catch something, like errant fingers, if put right in front of them or while they are eating. While rescuing them from roads (they like to cross to the other side??? Lol) we always were careful to keeps hands under their belly and behind their front legs. Since Peekaboo only tapped on top of the shell, she was safe. Besides, the turtle’s head has to be out of the shell to bite. Cats are amazing creatures, and very adept at catching snakes and such. Sometimes scarily so…..

when my husband and i were canoing we can upon at least 50 or more turtles, all different sizes and types basking in the sun on dead trees in an inlet. what a spectacle to see. to this day i am always looking at logs, trees, in bodies of water to see if turtles are enjoy the sun.

Peekaboo better watch out if that’s a Snapping Turtle.

They can take a kitten’s Nose right off.

The Razzberry may be the Turtle’s way to get kittens to come Closer.

Turtles climb trees, and somehow stick to a branch with their bellies? On what planet?
