Mmmm, I do love the scent of new pencils and (un)scented erasers, fresh out of the package! BUT I AM SAD THAT SCHOOL HAS STARTED ALREADY and I don’t even go to school anymore.
In Days of Yore, Times of Olde, the 1970s/1980s, the school year started the day after Labor Day in these here parts. Now they start classes in mid August. ¡Que Loco!
I still go buy office supplies every fall. Was looking at spiral notebooks and writing implements just yesterday – even though my youngest graduated high school years ago. Habits of a lifetime.
Most of my school supplies came from our home supply of same. I did need a new notebook – several when I got to junior high – which had to be bought. NYC would start school on the Monday after Long Island Schools – plus dad always knew of places to get (greatly) discounted office supplies so we would call him when I got home from school the first day and he would buy whatever supplies I needed and we did not have at home and avoid the mess of going out to buy them after I got home from the first day of school.
Then again as husband has commented – a lot of our school supplies were not purchased – mine had the names of clients of my dad’s (items they handed out to the public such as pencils and pens) and his had the names of freight companies on them as his dad did business with same.

He should invite Gracie from “Baldo.” She’d love this.

The other boy looks just like the younger version of Jimbo.

A school enthusiast is a proud and lonely job.
