    In the 50’s my Mother would buy lard by the brick for her cooking. Been fighting my waistline ever since. Not entirely her fault, beer drinking and my own unhealthy habits are significant contributors.

    My grandmother made some of the best pies and then tought her daughter, my mom, and I had pies for a longtime. My mom also had help from a lady that was a world champion pie maker at fast food joint. My wife’s mom made pies also so I had pies galore and enjoyed them over the many years. Alas a good things come to an end, my wife never took the time to learn how to make pies. I am left to buy pies at the store or where I can get one from some place that serves homemade pies. Maybe I should have tried to learn how to make them!
