But, does he listen to you?

You can really tell that he’s listening: Not only are his ears up and his eyes open and focused, but it’s the way he tilts his head, pauses, and tilts his head again, that lets you know he’s interested in everything you say.

He knows news from all neighbourhood.

But he only hears His Master’s Voice.

Or, he has a really stiff neck.

…but what he’s really doing is trying to get water out of his ear…

I have a dog like that. We love our Maggie to death, but I will never have another Schnauzer again. It wasn’t until after we got her and her sister, that I learned that Schnauzers have some of the most acute hearing in the canine world and that the German Army among others, used to pair Schnauzers with German Shepherds as guard dog pairs. The Schnauzer would hear a noise long before the Shepherd did and would alert the Shepherd.

I know that Maggie can hear a can opener two houses a way at the least. :-)
