Kid waited until he had his permanent front teeth and then tried an acrobatic bicycle jump while racing along a concrete sidewalk. So far as I know, the (significantly big) chip that the dentist glued back on the right upper incisor is still in place 40ish years later. Good glue!
How about “Oh my gosh, are you okay sweetie? Let’s get you some ice while I call the dentist”. Then I try to arrange an LC on my overdraft. At least that is what I did.
My kid knocked both his front teeth out playing hockey when he was nine and as a broke single mother working two jobs, I had squat.
Yet, somehow, I managed to find some credit. As a mother, your child comes first, and even brok a** me found a way to pay for him. I got him to the emergency dentist first and worried about paying afterwards. They were understanding and gave me a pay schedule and I paid it off from my second job a little every week until I was debt free. It took a year.
More importantly, I never once complained about the cost in front of him, making him feel bad. I just said it will be ok – alot – even if I knew it wasn’t
In first grade I fell on the Merry Go Round and put a hole dead center through my first permanent tooth…my upper front tooth. They filled it and put a temporary crown on it when I was 14, and waited until I was on my own and then I got to buy a permanent crown! Finally, a bridge when I was out of work.
Wow, childrens health is wealth issue for you guys? In Sweden her cost would amount to $0 and the time to take her to a dentist (some things are worth paying taxes for…).
If the mom doesn’t have much money to spare, what with her sister and her son, two daughters and her mom, all her responsibility, of course that would pop into her mind!
In reality she would not be able to get the front tooth fixed until she’s fully grown. I know this from experience. It’s not fun walking around with a chipped tooth. People get the wrong idea. “No i did not get this in a fist fight!”

Ha-ha. It’s a comic strip…written in the 90’s. It wouldn’t be funny written any other way.

Is the first part of the story missing or does this arc just start with the broken tooth?
