Really? The woman did that work on her own. It doesn’t matter whether or not she is married! Nor does it matter whether or not she is married to another artist!
Our community’s artist league puts on an annual weekend “do” when 20 or two dozen artists make time, clean up their studio and put up “this-a-way→” signs. One of the artists makes big steel things like pillars, boxes, archways etc. (partly) covered with fancy glass or pottery bits. Her husband fetches and carries, but she does the work including welding the steel parts, fusing the glass pieces and doing the work to make the pottery pieces… and then gluing it all together. I think that, usually, they hire someone to haul the finished works to the installation site but she’s right there making sure it goes in RIGHT!
She does sell “left over glass and pottery bits” which I think she probably deliberately makes in excess. By the pound. And she’ll do smaller (or larger) things on commission. We cannot afford to buy her stuff though.

Mother probably thinks her husband actually did it, and had the woman artist enter it into the gallery under her name.

Crumbs, gramma’s character changes a huge amount over the years this strip ran…unless she’s being deliberately controversial here?

I think Evie’s pulling Val’s leg. At least I hope so.

I’m sure Evie is commenting on the ‘art’ she considers terrible, she thinks a woman would do a much better job of expressing herself.

This is so out-of-character for Grandma Stone.
