As I’ve said before, if fantasy leagues are “games of skill” then so are horse and dog handicapping (betting) at the tracks. Both the league players and track handicappers are utilizing pari-mutuel systems to receive a payoff on their “skillful” choices.
It may, or may not be skill, but after playing in a fantasy football league last year, I assure you that it is work! Took the fun out f the game for me, personally.
“Too big to fail” never has anything to do with employees. They’re totally dispensable. It applies to the owners and investors, who would be devastated if their equities depreciated even a little.
Of course, if they can convince the government to bail them out, they’ll perk right up.
Competition in a season long fantasy league can be challenging and creates a friendly rivalry (with friends, fellow workers, etc) with the payoff more modest than the bragging rights. The weekly or especially the daily “leagues” are just pure gambling.
